The name Pugg Mahones is taken from the Gaelic slang "Pog Mo Thon" which translates literally as "Kiss My Ass".

The Pub is housed in the historic area of Bendigo with buildings dating back to the 1800's. Situated among the buzz of Bull & Hargreaves Streets, the Pub was transformed in the 1990's to reflect its present character. The Pub has become increasingly popular with visitors and Bendigonians alike and is now one of the most popular venues in Bendigo.
